VHCURES

VHCURES History

The authority to collect eligibility and claims data for Vermont residents from commercial health insurers and the state Medicaid program through VHCURES was originally granted to the Department of Financial Regulation (then known as BISHCA, 18 V.S.A. § 9410) . On July 1, 2013, the Green Mountain Care Board assumed responsibility for VHCURES, Vermont's all-payer claims database (Act 79 of 2013, Section 40).

VHCURES User Support

The GMCB, together with Onpoint Health Data the contractor for VHCURES data collection, consolidation, and user support, provide users with a variety of tools to assist them in analyzing VHCURES data.  VHCURES is a complex resource with questions to explore, challenges to unravel, and lessons to learn from using and improving the data.

Annual Paid Claims and Enrollment Report

The Vermont Department of Taxes is responsible for administering the Health Care Claims Tax (32 V.S.A. § 10402). The tax is imposed on every health insurer in an amount equal to 0.999 of one percent of all health insurance claims paid by the insurer for its Vermont members in the previous fiscal year ending June 30. The tax applies to all health care and dental claims that are not financed through a federal program.
